Mahesh Parusha (Founder of Parusha Foundation),  Born in a middle-class family with 4 children and dads’ single income, we grew up with limited resources, we never had a TV nor a Refrigerator as part of our childhood, I had a lot of questions and curiosity built over time about life and opportunities while learning at school. Study was the prime focus for kids of my age, I had a lot of passion for Mathematics and Science experiments but never had much opportunity nor a platform to experience. Never could attend any science fairs due to financial and resource limitations. Back then most of the schools nor the education system extended any support to bridge those gaps I faced. Similarly missed many Math Olympiads which has become a dream at a point.

After High school, due to my interest in Mathematics and sciences, I chose to achieve a diploma in engineering (polytechnic), I couldn’t stay in the dorm hence had to travel 2 hours one way to attend classes and many times missed some classes due to commute delays. However apart from the difficulties, my zeal to learn helped me complete the course but then I felt I had some knowledge gaps and I had to tighten my gaps to be able to achieve an admission into an engineering college and to do so, with my financial state and resources, getting a proper paid training to crack the highly competitive exam (where 100,000 brilliant kids appear and only 15000 qualify). For me it was a real challenge. I had my failures but never gave up but got more challenged and this helped me cracked it on my third attempt. This achievement and me completing my bachelor’s in engineering has really laid a huge foundation stone for me to be able to travel to the US where a world full of opportunities exists.

I came to the USA in 2001, to pursue my masters (at Bridgeport University) with help of a student loan, which was a huge burden on my family and a big commitment for me to resolve, but this loan would cover only my first semester fees and living expenses for up to 4 months. Everyday was a sleepless night in the conquest to achieve my dream and survive at the same time. By the end of the Semester, I was out of funds and constantly exploring other options, and by god’s grace, my doors opened to an opportunity, offering me a scholarship at Lamar University, Texas. to continue the rest of my course to a successful completion.

I had this question constantly haunting me back of my head, ‘What’s the purpose of my existence apart from zeal to acquire education and become successful in life’. This question took an amazing turn in life, when I learned about Warren Buffet’s decision in 2006 to divert most of his assets to charity. It shocked me, inspired me & motivated me in a new direction and re-capped my whole life full of difficult times which I faced due to lack of financial support and a helping platform. I couldn’t sleep for a couple of days analyzing my goal and what I can do with it to support others. My Life lessons and inspiration from Warren Buffet has reformed a thought of not only Building a STEM platform but also to build a sustainable model which can help, many kids unconditionally, unbiased and with an equal opportunity to learn and thrive to success. My plans and dreams came to a reality when I achieved my Naturalization certificate to be a US Citizen. This country has shaped my dreams and channeled all my struggle and achievement towards a greater cause. 2019 I have decided to dedicate myself and my earnings to support this model and not to let any other personal commitments like marriage or a family, deviate me from this cause. I am proud to be part of this journey and dream and very eager to see more and more kids benefit by the model.
